ORNL joins firm to move electricity more efficiently

With an assist from Oak Ridge National Laboratory, a New York company is working to commercialize a technology that shuttles electricity more efficiently across the nation's power grid.

On Wednesday, executives with SuperPower Inc. of Schenectady, N.Y., gathered at the lab with U.S. Department of Energy and ORNL officials to announce a license agreement that will help lower the cost of producing superconducting wires, which have no electrical resistance at extremely low temperatures.
