High-temperature superconducting wire looks increasingly practical
High-temperature superconductors (HTS) sure sound like a good idea. When fashioned into wires and cooled to about 77K, which passes for balmy in superconductivity circles, these ceramic materials can carry at least a hundred times more current than comparably sized copper wires.
